Nicolas J. Chaanine, born in 1990, is a contemporary classical music composer from Lebanon. His work reflects a deep interest in global musical traditions, resulting in a unique and barrier-breaking style. In June 2022, his opus 1, Transumanti, premiered in New York and was later performed with the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra.
Chaanine's second piece, Feniciană, also debuted in New York under Maestro Jean-Pierre Schmitt. Both Transumanti and Feniciană, along with his art song Adamo, were showcased in Naples and Portici, Italy, to great acclaim. Additionally, his music was featured in the Les Musicales de Baabdath international festival in 2023. Chaanine's innovative compositions continue to influence the contemporary classical music scene.
